MySwar stores many musical attributes of every song in its database. These attributes were documented painstakingly by listening to each song. Most of these attributes or tags have not been visible to MySwar users thus far. That has changed now.
The new Tag Search feature allows users to search songs based on their musical attributes. To start with we are implementing Tag Search for the following attributes:
- Voice – Users can search for songs with Male, Female, Duet, Group or Child vocals. We currently define only Male-Female duets as Duets. Male-Male and Female-Female duets are categorized as Group songs.
- Mood – Songs on MySwar are tagged with one of the following moods – Dark, Happy, Mellow, Playful, Rousing/Inspiring, Sad and Sensuous
- Song Language – This documents the language of the song. While a vast majority of Hindi film songs are in Hindi, there are a few with lyrics in other languages.
These attributes will also be visible on the Song page. A caveat – the Tag Search feature and the display of tags on the Song page will require users to log in.
In the following months, we will roll out the Tag Search feature for additional song attributes, including Raaga, Song Theme and Instruments.
